A little clarity,
before we talk.
It is natural to have questions. Here are a few starting points, and you are welcome to bring your own.
What happens in the free introduction call?
We meet on Zoom for 15 minutes. You can share what has brought you here, ask questions and get a feel for how I work. There is no charge and no pressure to commit to anything further.
Can I speak with Amanda if I live outside Northern Ireland?
Yes. I am based in Northern Ireland and work online with adults of all genders, wherever you live. Appointment times follow Europe/London, with your local equivalent shown when you choose a time.
How do I stop feeling so overwhelmed and heartbroken?
Feeling this way is a natural response to loss and change. Mentoring offers space to take things one day at a time and break down what feels impossible into small, manageable steps. We can explore supportive approaches that fit your circumstances.
How do I make good decisions when my emotions are all over the place?
Decision-making can feel difficult when emotions are running high. Mentoring creates space to pause, explore what you are feeling and reconnect with what matters most. Reflective conversations can help you consider choices that support your long-term wellbeing.
How do I cope with the loneliness and fear of being on my own?
We can explore gentle routines, what brings you joy and ways to connect with your strengths and interests. You do not have to rush into a new relationship or have your future worked out before reaching out.
Will I ever feel normal or happy again after this breakup or divorce?
It can be hard to imagine feeling differently when change is still fresh. Mentoring offers space to explore what a meaningful life could look like for you now. Everyone moves at their own pace, and no particular outcome or timescale is promised.
How can I prepare for the legal and financial side of divorce?
Mentoring is not a substitute for qualified legal or financial advice. We can break tasks into manageable steps and explore how to prepare for conversations with the appropriate professionals.
How do I manage guilt, anger or resentment?
Mentoring provides a supportive space to acknowledge what you are feeling without judgement. Through reflection, we can explore ways of responding that feel more helpful to you. You do not need to hide difficult feelings or arrive with the right words.
What can I do to rebuild my confidence and self-esteem?
We can work on recognising your strengths and identifying small steps towards what matters to you. New routines and space to reflect may help you reconnect with a sense of who you are beyond your relationship.
How do I navigate co-parenting without constant conflict?
Mentoring can support you in thinking about boundaries, your children's needs and calmer ways to communicate. Where there are safety concerns, specialist support and advice take priority.
What is the best way to communicate with my ex about the children?
Where contact is appropriate and safe, brief, factual communication focused on the children's needs can be helpful. We can explore what feels workable in your circumstances. Mentoring does not replace legal advice or specialist safeguarding support.
What if I never meet someone else or end up alone?
This fear is common. A conversation can help you focus on what you want for yourself now, including the interests, friendships and connections that matter to you. There is no set timetable for another relationship.
How do I let go of the past and forgive myself or my ex?
Letting go is a process. Mentoring offers space to explore what forgiveness means to you, without pressure to excuse what happened or reconnect with someone. The focus is on what helps you move forward.
Is mentoring therapy or an emergency service?
Mentoring focuses on reflection, manageable steps and future choices. It is not a replacement for medical care, psychotherapy, legal advice or crisis support. If you are in immediate danger, contact the emergency services where you live.
How do I change or cancel my call?
Reply to your confirmation email or email info@amandabarr.net. Amanda will help you arrange another time or cancel. You do not need to create an account.
You don’t need the right words. Just a place to start.
